Dressmaking Day, Sunday 9th November, 10am - 4pm, £27
at Countess Wear Village Hall

You can find an enrolment form here or on www.countesswearvillagehall.co.uk which you should print, complete and send with your cheque payment to the address on the form, please indicate on the booking form which course you would like to do. Please make cheques payable to Countess Wear Village Hall.

Like the weekly dressmaking courses this is aimed at those who wish to improve their dressmaking skills to achieve a more professional result or want to brush up on particular skills, but would like to set aside a full day rather than a weekly commitment. Whether its a prom/evening dress that you would like to make or another project that you would like to work on, we can cover concealed and ordinary zip placements, covered buttons, rouleux loop fastenings, covering cord for lacing, sleeve setting, interfacing and interlining as well as ironing out problems that you may have with your dressmaking.
If you done a corset or bodice workshop with me before and haven't quite finished it at home then this workshop could be a good follow up day for you to finish it off and start something new.

Following is a list of items that you will need to bring with you to the classes;

Please note:
Only glass or plastic large headed pins may be used for this course for health and safety reasons.
Countess Wear Village Hall is in constant use by other groups including Yoga, Pilates and Dog Training Classes. Despite my efforts and those of the caretaker to ensure any pins dropped on the floor are picked up, pins have been found by others using the hall and as you will appreciate present a significant health and safety risk. If you do not have large headed pins you can buy a pack from me on the day for £1. Click
here for a list of other haberdashery items available.

The Exeter Fabric Centre at Polsloe Bridge in Exeter stock Simplicity, Burda and New Look patterns, fabrics and haberdashery. Donna, Kathy and Mel are experienced dressmakers themselves and will sometimes be able to offer advice on fabrics and linings if you need it, usually dispensed with a dose of humour to enhance your shopping experience. The shop opening hours are 9-30am – 5pm Monday to Saturday.

Tea and coffee will be available.
