Welcome to Cottesloe Brides

Devon based designer Sara Radford has had a passion for sewing that started at the age of eight, making doll's clothes from fabrics left over from her Mum's dressmaking, and Sara's love of fabric combined with her interest in period costume have been sources of inspiration for many of the beautiful gowns that she has created since she started her bridalwear business in 1991. Most of Sara's clients are also based in the South West of England, but she regularly receives inquiries from further afield on recommendations from previous brides.

Made-to-Measure is by far, Sara's most popular service. Brides can choose from a range of designs from samples and photographs, then the fabrics that they prefer from a huge selection ranging from simple silks to lavish embroideries. A made-to-measure gown ensures a perfect fit and gives the bride an opportunity to personalise the gown and make it her own. Made-to-measure can also include some elements of the bespoke service, allowing the bride to be more creative with the design of her gown.

Bespoke is the watch-word for the bride seeking a totally unique gown designed from her own ideas and if that dream dress has so far, proved elusive, then this is the answer. Sketches are made to illustrate the bride's ideas and Sara can suggest fabrics that will work best for the design. Once she is happy with the design, a toile can be made and fitted, which will allow the bride to make any changes to the design before the gown is made.

Sara now offers regular couture boned bodice making workshops and period corset workshops as well as private tuition for the bride or mother of the bride wishing to make their wedding dress themselves but would feel more comfortable with a little extra help and guidance, visit www.sararadford.co.uk for more information.
